Project Objectives
SEA – PLASTIC – EDU is a project about building training and education in Plastic recycling in Laos and Vietnam which co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Commission which is executed by an academic consortium of six universities. We have three main goals within the time from Oct. 2017 to Oct. 2020. First is to support universities in Vietnam and Laos to modernize and improve the higher education of engineers and technicians by establishing an education concept for plastic recycling and waste management.
Second is to improve the employability and the entrepreneurial spirit of graduates and staff. Lastly, the project connects the academic world and the industry in the area of waste management.
Project implementation
In the frame of the project, these aims will be reached by the following:
- Development of additional learning components on plastic recycling and waste management to modernize and adjust established curricula in environmental engineering, water engineering and civil engineering to the challenges and state of the art in waste management.
- Development of regional training centers for plastic recycling at Universities in Vietnam and Laos as a platform for continual professional development (CPD) addressing recycling companies and authorities in the region.
- Certification of trainings courses and trained experts.
- Introduction of new, modern teaching methods and tools.
- Development of a sustainability concept aiming at implementing waste management in existing master programs and tailor – made continual professional development for practitioners.
- Establishment of a network to include Universities and companies in the wider region on waste related training.
- Establishing and expanding cooperation and knowledge exchange with European HEIs.
- Establishing cooperation with existing knowledge net.
